Can You Cut Your Risk of Alzheimer's, Memory Loss and Dementia With These Powerful Herbs and Nutrients?
Ancient wisdom meets modern science, and the benefits of these memory protecting herbs, may be nothing short of
miraculous.
If you have ever watched a friend or family member affected by Alzheimer's or
memory issues, then you know the pain that these diseases cause.
I've watched my own loved ones dissapear into the fog of memory loss and
Alzheimer's--and it is devastating. Like you, I've also asked myself why this is happening to more and more people
today...
Maybe you're watching someone with Alzheimer's or dementia decline--or perhaps
you're interested in learning what you can do now to protect your memory for years to come.
If so, I think you'll find this article helpful.
Nutritional Deficiencies or Something Else?
Research is pointing toward dietary deficiencies as part of the cause behind
conditions like Alzheimer's and Dementia.
As our diets rely more on processed foods and industrialized farming methods, much
of the nutrients we used to get from the soil (into our crops and meat products) are no longer
available.
Over time, we can become nutritionally bankrupt, resulting in an increased risk of
common diseases in our bodies today--diseases that were once quite rare.
While there are many potential nutrients to discuss, let's take a look at one
specific nutrient now, to illustrate this point.
Tumeric and Reduced Risk of Memory Issues
Tumeric (also known as "curcumin") is the bright yellow spice used in many types
of curry.
As a result, many diets in India contain high levels of curry--
or at least much higher than "western" diets.
Interestingly, people who eat a lot of tumeric-based curry, also have a very low
rate of Alzheimer's, Dementia and memory loss.
The reason?
Tumeric contains high levels of "curcuminoids" and these curcuminoids appear
reduce the development of Amyloid plaque--a plaque that affects brain function.
Science Weighs In
Curcuminoids show an ability to reduce the development of Amyloid plaques--which
are plaque deposits in the brain that lead to memory loss and disease.
As we look into scientific studies, we can see a clear connection between the
amount of tumeric in one's diet, and the relative risk of brain diseases such as Alzhemier's.
If you are interested in protecting your memory, you would be wise to include more
tumeric in your diet (if you are not already eating a lot of curry).
Supplementing with Tumeric
Tumeric is an inexpensive spice that you can buy in bulk at your local grocery
store.
You can cook with tumeric, adding it to curries and similar dishes.
Or, you can mix a 1/2 teaspoon of tumeric into a glass of orange juice, and drink
it daily.
You can also purchase tumeric capsules and take these daily--which is something I
try to do when I am not eating a lot of curry.
Other Brain Supporting Ingredients
Tumeric is just one of the beneficial spices for healthy brain support.
Ginko Biloba is another herbal extract used to support healthy circulation to the
brain.
So is "Vinpocetin", which is extracted from the lesser periwinkle plant--used for
brain fog, dementia and memory issues.
As is "Phosphatidyl serine complex" which is a critical nutrient for brain
health.
Proactively Protecting Your Brain Health
You can take steps to protect your brain health, and potentially reduce your risk
of getting Alzheimer's, dementia or some similar type of decline in mental function.
If you are busy and want to have a convenient supplement you can take to support
brain health, you can read more about that here.
However you choose to do it, it is important to give your brain (and body) the
nutrients and micronutrients it needs to guard against degenerative disease.
